In 2008 we successfully completed
$450,000 Campaign for Digital Mammography
As of September 22, 2008 Digital Mammography is up and running at Cowichan District Hospital providing the latest technology to screen and diagnose breast cancer in the Cowichan Valley!
$70,000 Giraffe Omnibed Campaign
June 2008, SUNFM hosted the 4th annual SUNATHON raising $50,000 to help fund the Giraffe Omnibed for high risk newborns in the hospital's Maternity Ward. The nurses are
trained on this new high tech equipment and it is now in operation
on the ward.
In 2009, the Foundation funded a $26,000
Headwall to provide additional technology
alongside the Omnibed for our most vulnerable new arrivals.
The 2008 - 2009 Annual Appeal Campaign raised $380,000 to buy
equipment for Cowichan District Hospital's Pharmacy. 3 AcuDose machines to dispense medicines and a laminar airflow hood supporting the Cancer Centre are now funded. VIHA construction is underway and is planned to be completed by late Spring 2010.
$20,000 Glidescope for patients arriving in ER with respiratory emergencies
$150,000 enhanced x-ray machine to measure bone density and bone loss, and help diagnose
osteoporosis
NEW BUILDING FUND FOR COWICHAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL:
On April 17, 2010, at our Gala Dinner Auction, chair Meryle
Hilberry announced that the foundation has dedicated 1
million dollars to a new fund supporting an expanded and new
community hospital.
